James Jordan & The Situation is James’ original project with which he recorded and released his album, Reflections. Beginning originally as a group of college friends, the band has developed a mature and versatile sound, sharpened by the connection and dedication of its musicians. The chemistry and ambition of this group allowed them to bring Reflections to life in the recording studio and on stage. Much inspiration is drawn from artists like Earth, Wind, & Fire, Rachelle Ferrell, and D’Angelo to craft a unified voice from many different pieces across genres. This band performs on stages like The Maple Leaf, Chickie Wah Wah, Ellis Marsalis Center for Music, and WWOZ Jazz Tent at the Jazz and Heritage Festival. Whether bringing original music to life or paying homage to the artists that came before, James Jordan & The Situation offers up its artistic voice to audiences for a remarkable performance.

Higher Ground is a gospel-funk group creating a space where all are invited to come sing, dance, and enjoy a musical fellowship independent of any defined religion or spiritual practice. The show aims to highlight the intersection and development of the two genres and how they have influenced each other.
